In my experience, the year abroad in Atlanta with the Atlantis program was very enriching not only academically but also personally.
Americans are very open and friendly, which made it easy to get contact and insight in the way of living. Also, the high number of international students from all over the world gave a good opportunity to get to know different cultures and exchange perspectives. Living in homepark - an area right next to the campus - was also a good choice, as most of the residents there are also students and so it was easy to meet.
Georgia Tech itself has a huge campus with everything ranging from dining locations, shops, doctors and multiple sport facilities. This made the campus not only a place for studying. The quality of the classes was in general high with dedicated lecturers. On the backside, the workload of the classes was very high, which led to almost no free time in hot phases of the semester.
All in all, my experience at Georgia Tech was very good and I would recommend everybody to go abroad if he has the chance to do so. Present, I am at TU Munich to finish the Atlantis program and earn my diploma there. (David Lenz, November 2010).
