My name is Aaron Ciaghi and I was one of the first two students from Trento to apply for the ATLAS dual degree program. I attended spring and fall semesters in 2009 at Georgia Tech and I spent 2 months in Munich at the beginning of 2010.

During the period spent at Georgia Tech I always tried to take classes that were not available in Trento, such as Human-Computer Interaction and Computing for Good – which I still consider to be the most inspiring in my course of studies, in order to fully take advantage of the opportunities offered by this program.

Trying to fit into American life, finish all my assignments on time and deal with all the differences one can encounter in a diverse country like the US have been great challenges that contributed to making this experience enriching not only from an academic point of view.

I obtained my degree from Georgia Tech in May 2010 and I graduated in Italy cum laude in July 2010. I have been admitted to the ICT doctoral school of the University of Trento with a scholarship awarded by Fondazione Bruno Kessler (a research institute in Trento). My PhD will be centered around technologies for communities with low ICT penetration, with a focus on Living Lab Maputo, Mozambique.
